The future of bouyon is being decided now
Bouyon has never had such a large audience, and its future has never been so open. The question is no longer whether the genre will grow, but who will keep its keys: its Dominican creators, or industries elsewhere.
The risk: growing while losing the origin
The history of Caribbean music is full of genres that became global while their island of origin stayed poor in rights and credits. Bouyon, whose value is increasingly created in France, runs the same risk if Dominican artists do not structure their distribution and their metadata.
The Bouyon Shattaz answer
The model built by Bouyon Shattaz combines a media outlet that tells the origin story, a distribution and rights desk for artists, and a network of pages and partners in the French Caribbean. The goal: that every bouyon success strengthens Dominica instead of erasing it.
