Bouyon Music 2026: all of the year’s bouyon
Bouyon music is the English term for the genre, and its year 2026 is playing out in English as much as in French: it is in Gwada, in Martinique, in French Guiana and in Paris that the French-speaking audience keeps alive the bouyon born in Dominica, and the English-speaking Caribbean and diaspora are right there with them.
The state of bouyon in 2026
A networked scene: Dominican artists collaborate with the French Caribbean, producers launch their riddims on video, specialized media like Bouyon Shattaz and its French-speaking partners relay every release, and the Roseau WCMF serves as the annual summit.
