Bouyon songs: the selection to discover the genre

Which songs should you listen to in order to understand bouyon? From the classics of Dominica’s bands to the recent tracks followed by Bouyon Shattaz, here is the method and the names to remember.

The classics first

Start with the founding bands, WCK, Roots Stems and Branches and First Serenade: that is where the genre took its form. Continue with the carnival tracks of the 1990s and 2000s, when bouyon reigned unchallenged over Dominica.

The tracks of the new era

On the recent side: Life Nice by Asa Bantan, the Bouyon Boss. Joli BB by Reo with Maurane Voyer, the Dominica and Martinique bridge. FIX UP by G’z Up, carried by its Ya ya ya hook. Throw Dat (Bouyon 2026) by Klass Money, produced by Smokiller. And Mauvais Plan by HYPNO on the producer side. The bouyon playlist gathers them all in one place.
