Bouyon BPM: speed as a signature

Bouyon is a fast genre, and its tempo is part of its identity. When producer HYPNO claims a track at 160 bpm, Mauvais Plan, he shows his colors: bouyon does not seek comfort, it seeks movement.

Why so fast

The tempo of bouyon comes from its roots: traditional Dominican dances, carnival and competition between bands push toward maximum energy. The keyboard loops and fast percussion create a continuous tension that leaves the body no choice.

Tempo as an argument

In today’s producer scene, announcing your BPM has become an argument: it is a promise of dance and a challenge to other producers. But speed alone does not make a bouyon: without the percussion and the spirit of Dominica, it is just a fast beat.
