DJ Softee: the producer who tags his records for next season
Published October 20, 2026
DJ Softee is a DJ and producer from the Guadeloupe bouyon scene, documented by a dense and regular platform catalogue: a first guest credit in 2022 on Trns “Zanana (Version Deluxe)”, the “BOUYON MOOD” EP and “KARAKOLI” with Tiitii NBA in 2023, then “KPT”, “Everyday” with 1T1, “ALL NIGHT” and “BOUNCE” in 2024, and in 2025 the long collective freestyle “LA PEP'HIT FREESTYLE” and the six track EP “Chodong Route Empire C.R.E”, with “Supalova” and “SKILLI”. Almost all his records carry a year and function tag, bouyon 2023, bouyon 2024, bouyon warm up 2025 or 2026, like tools made for DJs and for the season to come. No published biography was found: this profile therefore reads the catalogue, its recurring writers and its labels, separates the artist from his American namesakes, and states plainly what the record does not establish.
Who DJ Softee is: a catalogue first, a name to separate second
DJ Softee has no published artist biography in the sources consulted during this research, and this profile starts with that fact. No interview, no press article, no presentation page: the artist exists publicly where platforms print his releases, his writing credits and his collaborations. The file is far from empty for all that. Between 2022 and 2025, the Deezer, Shazam and Qobuz pages draw a steady catalogue, with two EPs, a run of singles dated to the day, tempos almost always listed at 160 BPM and a stable circle of collaborators. For a bouyon producer, whose work first travels as files, warm ups and collective freestyles, that catalogue is the available biography, and this profile reads it record by record.
The name first needs sorting, because Softee is a crowded stage name. DJ Softee is not Softee, the Brooklyn pop artist born Nina Grollman, author of the album “Natural” released in 2023 on City Slang and documented by Qobuz and Deezer as a synth pop singer from Minnesota and Broadway. He is not the New York event DJ Softee presented by Manhattan event pages either. No fact from those American careers is used here. The DJ Softee of this profile is the one platforms credit in French and Creole, alongside Tiitii NBA, 1T1, DJ Boko and DJ Dirtee, on records tagged bouyon: the credit spelling, DJ SOFTEE in capitals on Deezer and Shazam, is the one this profile keeps.
A second sorting concerns the metadata itself. The Shazam artist page of DJ SOFTEE files the artist under the genre Holiday, and several of his pages carry a Christmas mention, while the records are French language bouyon records. That filing does not describe the music: it shows how distributors and platforms sometimes tag these end of year or carnival season releases with automatic categories. This profile therefore quotes the solid facts of the pages, dates, labels, writers, listed tempos, and treats platform genre tags with the caution they deserve. The same caution applies to the writer name that returns across the whole catalogue, Julian White: no source consulted establishes whether he is DJ Softee himself or a writer from his workshop, and this profile does not decide in place of the credits.
2022 and 2023: a guest credit, then BOUYON MOOD and the Tiitii NBA circle
The first verified trace in the file is a guest credit, dated February 10, 2022. “Zanana (Version Deluxe)”, by Trns, released by VGM PRODUCT inside the “Mr Zanana” EP, credits Dj-Softee as a featured artist, at 160 BPM according to Shazam. The record alone does not say what role he holds there, production, voice or studio presence, and this profile does not choose. It states the position: before signing his own records, DJ Softee appears inside another artist title, exactly how many producers of the scene enter the public record, through the small line of the credits.
The year 2023 is the year of the signature. On August 10, 2023, DJ Softee released the EP “BOUYON MOOD”, billed with Tiitii NBA, on 5183189 Records DK2. Its record documented page by page is “KARAKOLI”, tagged bouyon 2023, listed at 157 BPM, and credited in writing to Julian White and Terry Capitolin, the writer name on Tiitii NBA records. The same year, Shazam also lists the single “FRIDAY NIGHT”, tagged bouyon 2023 and again with Tiitii NBA. The pattern that will hold across the whole catalogue is already there: one producer, one recurring lead voice, short records built as party ammunition, and a tag that states the year and the use before it states the style.
The end of 2023 widens the circle in two directions. On September 29, 2023, D0 Production released “New Bouyon Wave #1”, which credits Tiitii NBA, Nils, Dj Softee, Aknose and Theomaa, on 2873529 Records DK, at 160 BPM: the title claims a wave, and DJ Softee stands in it among the names of the new French speaking generation. On December 1, 2023, according to Qobuz, 1T1 released “GardaVou”, with Lucky Lukee and DJ SOFTEE. Within a few months, the producer had therefore moved from an isolated guest credit to three different set ups: his own EPs, a collective manifesto record on D0 Production, and a guest spot with 1T1, another central name of current Guadeloupe bouyon. That network, more than any single hit, is what makes his place in the scene.
2024: KPT, Everyday, ALL NIGHT, BOUNCE and the warm up system
The year 2024 shows the regularity of the catalogue, four dated traces in three set ups. On February 16, 2024, Tiitii NBA released “KPT”, which credits DJ SOFTEE as a featured artist, on HEAVEN STUDIO, the label of Tiitii NBA recent records. The title carries the tag bouyon warm up 2025 although it was released in February 2024, and its tempo is listed at 127 BPM, well below the usual 160 of the scene: this profile quotes the published figure as it stands, as it quotes the tag, because both say something about the system. The warm up is an early party format, and the year in the tag aims at the season to come, not at the upload year.
On June 7, 2024, according to Qobuz, 1T1 released “Everyday”, with DJ Softee as a featured artist: the second documented collaboration between the two names, after “GardaVou”. On August 13, 2024, DJ Softee became lead artist again with “ALL NIGHT”, which credits Tiitii NBA and D0 Production, on 5183189 Records DK2, the same label as “BOUYON MOOD”, at 160 BPM and in French. On November 29, 2024, “BOUNCE” came out on the label DJ SOFTEE itself, with DJ Luchshiy as guest and Julian White alone in writing. In one year, the producer had therefore worked as a guest for Tiitii NBA and for 1T1, as lead artist on his usual distributor, then as lead artist under his own label name: four positions that describe a producer built into the workshop of his scene, not a passing name.
The tags deserve a pause, because they are the most readable signature of the catalogue. Bouyon 2023, bouyon 2024, bouyon warm up 2025, bouyon warm up 2026: those mentions, printed inside the titles themselves on the platforms, work like the vintages of carnival riddims. They tell DJs which season the tool is made for, and they deliberately date a record ahead of its release when the season aimed at is the next one. A quick profile would see date errors there. This profile reads a trade fact: in French Antillean bouyon, part of the output is produced as party tooling, filed by season like sound system warm ups, and DJ Softee is one of the producers who own that filing all the way into the metadata.
2025: LA PEP'HIT FREESTYLE, FREESTYLE TRINI 2 and Chodong Route Empire
On June 4, 2025, DJ Softee released “LA PEP'HIT FREESTYLE”, a single in an unusual format: 9 minutes 42 according to Deezer, at 160 BPM, in French, crediting Tiitii NBA, DJ Boko, Le K and DJ Dirtee as featured artists, with Julian White and Steeve Fleret in writing and Steeve Fleret in production according to Shazam. The format is the message: nearly ten minutes of relays between the voices and DJs of one team, released as a single record, belong to the workshop session more than to the radio single. DJ Softee holds the centre of the table there, the one whose name carries the title while the team files through. The same Steeve Fleret is the credited writer of DJ Dirtee records, which ties this freestyle to a writing workshop shared by the two DJs.
The most identified DJ Softee record on Shazam is not one of his short singles, though. “FREESTYLE TRINI 2”, which brings together Aknose, 1T1, Softee, Tiitii NBA and Nils, stands at the top of his artist page, at 14,000 identifications according to the counter shown, and it also travels in scene mix tracklists, for example in second position of a 2026 Sewo Jam mix where it is listed as “Dj Softee x Aknose x 1T1 x Soft x Tiiitii NBA x NILS”. The two forms of the title, the platform page form and the DJ tracklist form, tell the same reality: these collective freestyles live two lives, the platform life and the mix life, and DJ Softee is credited in both.
On September 1, 2025, Deezer dates the EP “Chodong Route Empire C.R.E”, released under the DJ SOFTEE copyright, six short records between 2 minutes 03 and 2 minutes 38. “Bay li”, with DJ Boko, tagged bouyon 2026, written by Allan Blonbou and Julian White. “Ambiance Latino” and “More Wata”, with Tiitii NBA, tagged bouyon warm up 2026, written by Terry Capitolin and Julian White. “SKILLI”, with Tiitii NBA, QWANN and DINHO, tagged bouyon 2026. “SOUKWÉ LI”, with DJ Boko, written by Julian White alone. And “Supalova”, with Tiitii NBA and DJ Dirtee, tagged bouyon warm up 2026, written by Julian White. The whole EP therefore aims at the 2026 season although it came out in autumn 2025, and it tightens the team around three voices and two guest DJs: it is the most complete document of the Softee system, six tools, one workshop, one season ahead.
The writers, the labels and how the Softee sound is made
Reading the writing credits of the catalogue brings a stable workshop into view. Julian White is everywhere: alone on “BOUNCE”, “SOUKWÉ LI” and “Supalova”, with Terry Capitolin on “KARAKOLI”, “Ambiance Latino”, “More Wata” and “SKILLI”, with Allan Blonbou on “Bay li”, with Steeve Fleret on “LA PEP'HIT FREESTYLE”. Terry Capitolin is the writer name Shazam also prints on Tiitii NBA records, for example “WOOD”: when he co-signs a Softee record with Tiitii NBA as guest, the page therefore brings together the writer of the voice and the writer of the producer. Steeve Fleret, for his part, connects DJ Softee to DJ Dirtee, whose records he also writes. This profile does not turn those recurrences into an organisation chart: it notes that current Guadeloupe bouyon works in recurring writer workshops, and that the DJ Softee one is among the best documented by the platforms.
The labels tell the same stabilisation. The first releases go through numbered distributors, 5183189 Records DK2 for “BOUYON MOOD” and “ALL NIGHT”, 2873529 Records DK for the D0 Production record, VGM PRODUCT for the 2022 guest credit. Then the name DJ SOFTEE itself becomes the label: “BOUNCE” in 2024, “LA PEP'HIT FREESTYLE” and the “Chodong Route Empire C.R.E” EP in 2025 carry his name as label or copyright. Between the two, “KPT” came out on HEAVEN STUDIO, the Tiitii NBA label, the same label that carried the DJ Skaylone credit on “WOOD” that year, which places the two producers of this research inside one shared label ecosystem without merging their separate paths. That slide, from the anonymous distributor to the proper name, is a path marker the pages allow us to date without inventing anything: from 2024 on, DJ Softee signs his main releases under his own name.
What remains is the question of the sound itself, and this profile treats it with the published elements only. The listed tempos are almost always 160 BPM, the reference speed of modern bouyon, with two gaps quoted as they stand, 157 BPM for “KARAKOLI” and 127 BPM for “KPT”. The formats are short, around two minutes for the 2025 EP records, except when the format becomes the session itself, the 9 minutes 42 of the June 2025 freestyle. The listed language is French, with Creole in the titles. And the origin of the genre stays the one this site documents throughout: bouyon was born in Dominica, bouyon soca was started there in 2003 by producer Dada according to the signed testimony of Sean “Smokiller” Francis, a Dominican-born producer, and popularised by Triple Kay. DJ Softee work sits in the Guadeloupe and French speaking branch of that history, the one told by our history of bouyon page and our bouyon soca page.
What this profile does not know, and why this page exists
The limits of the file are clear and this profile names them. No source consulted gives DJ Softee full name, his town, his precise island of birth beyond the Guadeloupe scene his collaborations and Creole titles attach him to, his age or the start of his activity before the 2022 credit. No source establishes whether the writer Julian White, present across almost the whole catalogue, is DJ Softee himself or a partner writer. No official social account was verified by direct opening as his: the only external link on this page is his Deezer artist page, opened and verified during this research. Everything else would be guesswork, and this profile refuses guesswork.
This page exists because the catalogue, on the other hand, is a complete fact. Two EPs, around ten dated singles and collaborations, a season tag system nobody else in the scene displays as systematically, and a pivot position inside the workshop of Tiitii NBA, DJ Boko, DJ Dirtee and 1T1: there is a readable producer path there without a single line of biography. Gathering those credits, ruling out the pop and New York namesakes, and refusing to identify Julian White without proof is already writing the available history of DJ Softee with honest materials.
To hear the sound in which this catalogue makes sense, our bouyon playlist gathers bouyon, bouyon soca and new releases from Dominica and the French Antilles followed by Bouyon Shattaz. Start with “KARAKOLI” and “Supalova” for the tag system, with “LA PEP'HIT FREESTYLE” for the workshop format, and with “FREESTYLE TRINI 2” for the record the public identifies most. If DJ Softee or his team confirm an identity, an origin or official accounts, this profile will be completed and dated like every page on this site.

Frequently asked questions
Who is DJ Softee?
DJ Softee is a DJ and producer from the Guadeloupe bouyon scene, documented by his platform catalogue: the “BOUYON MOOD” EP and “KARAKOLI” with Tiitii NBA in 2023, “KPT”, “Everyday” with 1T1, “ALL NIGHT” and “BOUNCE” in 2024, then “LA PEP'HIT FREESTYLE” and the “Chodong Route Empire C.R.E” EP in 2025. The public record consulted establishes neither his full name nor his precise origin.
Is DJ Softee the Brooklyn pop singer Softee?
No. Softee, real name Nina Grollman, is an American pop artist, author of the album “Natural” released in 2023 on City Slang, documented by Qobuz and Deezer. The DJ Softee of this profile is the bouyon producer credited alongside Tiitii NBA, 1T1, DJ Boko and DJ Dirtee on French and Creole records tagged bouyon. The two careers have no established link.
Why is “KPT”, released in February 2024, tagged bouyon warm up 2025?
Because the tag aims at the season, not at the upload year. “KPT”, by Tiitii NBA with DJ SOFTEE, released on February 16, 2024 on HEAVEN STUDIO, carries the mention bouyon warm up 2025, and the “Chodong Route Empire C.R.E” EP, released on September 1, 2025, tags its records bouyon 2026 and bouyon warm up 2026. In the DJ Softee catalogue, the year printed in the title names the party season the tool is made for.
What are the tracks on the “Chodong Route Empire C.R.E” EP?
Deezer lists six tracks for the EP, dated September 1, 2025: “Bay li” with DJ Boko, “Ambiance Latino” and “More Wata” with Tiitii NBA, “SKILLI” with Tiitii NBA, QWANN and DINHO, “SOUKWÉ LI” with DJ Boko, and “Supalova” with Tiitii NBA and DJ Dirtee. Writing is credited to Julian White, Terry Capitolin and Allan Blonbou depending on the track.
Is Julian White DJ Softee?
The public record does not allow that to be said. Julian White is credited as writer across almost the whole DJ Softee catalogue, alone or with Terry Capitolin, Allan Blonbou and Steeve Fleret, but no source consulted establishes whether that is the producer civil name or a workshop writer. This profile quotes the credit as the platforms print it and does not identify him without proof.
Where can I hear bouyon by DJ Softee and his circle?
