Real Reel: a rising artist award before any biography

Published October 20, 2026

Real Reel is a name that arrives with an award before it arrives with a biography. At the Dominica Music Awards 2025, he won Rising and Emerging Artist or Band of the Year, ahead of a finalist list that included Nice, Trixx, Faithii, the Riddim Knockers and Trixz Migos. His best documented single, “Tropikini”, released on 19 June 2025 on No Turkey Music, carries precise credits: Savion on production and piano, Corel Dominique as songwriter, DiYoute as engineer and Yw3 Studio on mixing and mastering. The rest of his public story sits in DJ tracklists, where “Chappa”, “What did it?” and “I Do” keep turning, and in a booking at Ti Vilaj Kwéyòl 2026 in Roseau. This profile gathers those verified facts, separates what is attributed from what is established, and states clearly what the record does not know: neither his exact origin, nor even whether he is a solo artist or a group.

An award before a biography: the Dominica Music Awards 2025

The fact this profile stands on is an award, and it is documented by the specialist press. Soca News, in its report on the Dominica Music Awards 2025, writes that the ceremony took place on Saturday 3 January at the InterContinental Dominica Cabrits Resort and Spa, in Portsmouth, Dominica, and that it recognised Dominican music across 24 categories. In the official winners list published by the site, the Rising and Emerging Artist or Band of the Year category goes to Real Reel. The same report places that night inside an edition that also honoured Signal Band, Shelly, Pudaz, DJ MJ and producer Mr Ridge, that is, the current centre of gravity of the Dominican scene.

The finalist list published before the ceremony gives the award its measure. For this same category, the nominees were Nice, Trixx, Faithii, presented as Bouyon Barbie Faithii, the Riddim Knockers Band, Real Reel and Trixz Migos. Real Reel therefore did not win an uncontested honorary prize: he came out of a selection mixing solo singers, an established riddim scene band and several of the rising names in Dominican bouyon. For an artist with no published biography, this award is the first checkable institutional recognition, and it is what justifies this page.

Note the exact shape of the category: artist or band. The organisers themselves group both cases under one label, and none of the sources consulted for this profile settles the question for Real Reel. This profile does not settle it either. Real Reel may be a solo singer, a duo or a small group: the public record, to date, does not say, and any page claiming otherwise without a source would be adding an invented fact to an already thin record.

“Tropikini”: the single documented credit by credit

Real Reel best documented record is “Tropikini”. The track Shazam sheet gives a date, a label and a language: released on 19 June 2025 on No Turkey Music, as a single, in English, with a tempo shown as 130 BPM on the same sheet. The official visualizer page on YouTube adds production and finishing: produced by Savion, mixed and mastered by Yw3 Studio, with the note Out Everywhere. Put together, those elements form the most complete sheet in Real Reel known catalogue.

The detailed credits are worth reading. Shazam credits Savion on piano among the performing artists, Corel Dominique as songwriter, and DiYoute as engineer. The Savion name connects this record to a producer already documented on this site, prod.bysavion, whose snippets and productions circulate in the same scene. This profile deduces nothing from the Corel Dominique name: it reproduces it as the published songwriter credit, without identifying it with Real Reel or with anyone else, for lack of a source making that link.

“Tropikini” also says something about how the record is positioned. A swimwear name, an English language lyric sheet, a party tempo and a visualizer rather than a big video: the format is that of modern bouyon built for mixes, parties and social feeds, where a single has to work within seconds inside a DJ run. The rest of this profile shows that this is exactly where the record lived: in the tracklists.

“Chappa”, “What did it?”, “I Do”: life inside DJ mixes

Beyond “Tropikini”, Real Reel public discography can be read almost entirely in DJ tracklists, and that mode of circulation is itself information. DJ JEL 2026 Summer Soca and Bouyon Catch Up mix, whose full tracklist is published, places Real Reel “Chappa” at 20 minutes 43, between Hollywood HP and Pudaz with Paris. A record placed that way, in the middle of a soca and bouyon catch up mix built for the season, is a record the DJ treats as part of the sound of the moment.

Blaqrose Supreme 2026 bouyon freestyle mix goes further: its published tracklist holds three Real Reel records. “What did it?” arrives at 9 minutes 38, “Tropikini” follows at 10 minutes 51, and “I Do” returns later, at 30 minutes 14, among records by 1t1, TK International, Signal Band and Gwada G. Three records by the same emerging artist inside one specialist mix is not filler: it is the sign that a small, coherent catalogue exists and that DJs treat it as a recognisable block.

This profile therefore counts five verified Real Reel records: “Tropikini”, the only one documented with a full date, label and credits; “Chappa”, “What did it?” and “I Do”, attested by published mix tracklists; and “Isle Of Beauty”, which an iTunes chart aggregator listed at number one on its Dominica songs page at crawl time. That last point is reported here with its exact attribution: it is one aggregator listing, seen at one moment, not a dated and certified official chart peak. The distinction looks small, it is central to this site method: a chart seen is reported as a chart seen, never as an established record.

Ti Vilaj Kwéyòl 2026 and the Dennery question: what is established, what is only attributed

Real Reel second documented stage is a festival, and not just any festival. Ti Vilaj Kwéyòl, the Creole village of Dominica independence celebrations, holds its fifth edition from 19 to 22 October 2026 at the Botanic Gardens in Roseau, under the theme Tout Biten Domnik. The updated list of confirmed artists, published on 18 October, adds Real Reel among nine new names, alongside Gwada G, Carlyn XP, Kenny G and the Swingin’ Stars, taking the total to 29 artists. The Day 2 programme, on Tuesday 20 October, then places Real Reel in the 5:40 PM Super Mix slot, with Taffy and Co, Gwada G, Trixx and Kenny G, before the DJ MJ finale.

It is in that programme guide that the only origin label found during the research appears: the guide presents Real Reel, in parentheses, as a Dennery Segment king. The Dennery Segment is the Saint Lucia soca sound born in the town of Dennery, in the Mabouya Valley, built on rhythms drawn from Angolan kuduro, zouk and Lucian percussion, with lyrics in Creole. If that label were confirmed, Real Reel would be an artist from that Lucian scene booked in Dominica. But it is not confirmed: no other source consulted, neither the awards report, nor the track sheets, nor the official finalist list, gives Real Reel any origin.

This profile therefore makes the opposite choice from pages that copy labels without checking them. It reports the Ti Vilaj Kwéyòl guide mention as a mention attributed to that one guide, and it keeps as established facts the documented anchors: an award at the Dominica Music Awards, a booking at the Creole village in Roseau, and records turning in bouyon mixes. Real Reel personal origin remains, to date, undocumented in the open sources of this record. The title page keeps Dominica because that is where his award and his confirmed stage are, not as a birth certificate.

Why Real Reel matters in the bouyon of 2026

Real Reel matters first because his award says something about the scene that gave it to him. The Dominica Music Awards reward a whole ecosystem, from historic bands to sound engineers, and their emerging category works as an official radar: to appear there as a finalist already puts a name under watch, to win it moves that name ahead of competitors who, like Nice, Trixx or Faithii, hold thicker public records. Real Reel path is a reminder that, in bouyon, ground reputation, the one built in fetes, mixes and promoter bookings, often comes before written documentation.

He matters next through the very shape of his known catalogue. One fully credited single on a small label, No Turkey Music, three records attested only by DJ tracklists, one record picked up by a chart aggregator: that is an exact photograph of how an emerging artist in the English speaking Caribbean exists in 2025 and 2026. He exists first inside DJ machines and seasonal rituals, carnival, Creole week and independence fetes, before existing in articles. Our bouyon soca page and our bouyon playlist follow that circulation record by record.

He matters finally as a useful limit case. Between a guide sticking a Dennery Segment crown on him with no other proof, an award ranking him among Dominican talents and credits naming a songwriter, Corel Dominique, without saying who that is, Real Reel gathers every way a record can blur once copying starts. This site chooses to publish the record as it is, with its verified zones and its empty zones, rather than a smooth biography that would have to invent origin, line up and real name to stand up.

How to hear Real Reel, and what this profile does not yet know

Listening starts with “Tropikini”, the only record whose full sheet is public: Savion production, Corel Dominique writing, DiYoute engineering, Yw3 Studio mixing and mastering, released on 19 June 2025. Follow with “Chappa” inside DJ JEL mix, then with “What did it?” and “I Do” inside Blaqrose Supreme bouyon mix, to hear how DJs place these records among the sure values of the season. That is, to date, the most faithful way to meet Real Reel: in the flow, among the others, the way the Roseau public heard him at Ti Vilaj Kwéyòl.

This profile states its limits plainly. No real name is printed here, because none is confirmed. No birthplace or home base is claimed, because the sources are silent or contradict each other through a copied label. No verified official account was confirmed, so this page links to no social profile, and the schema sameAs field stays empty. The exact line up, solo or group, also stays open, exactly as the wording of his award, rising and emerging artist or band, left it open.

If a solid element appears, an official artist page, a single with full credits, an interview or a detailed festival sheet, this profile will be completed, dated and corrected like every page on this site. In the meantime, Real Reel record holds a few solid lines: a Rising and Emerging Artist or Band of the Year award at the Dominica Music Awards 2025, one documented single from June 2025, four more records attested by mixes and by a chart listing seen, and a place in the Ti Vilaj Kwéyòl 2026 Super Mix in Roseau. For a name the biographies have not caught up with yet, that is already a readable path.

Frequently asked questions

What award did Real Reel win?

Real Reel won Rising and Emerging Artist or Band of the Year at the Dominica Music Awards 2025, at the ceremony held on Saturday 3 January at the InterContinental Dominica Cabrits Resort and Spa, in Portsmouth, Dominica, according to the report published by Soca News. The other finalists in the category were Nice, Trixx, Faithii, the Riddim Knockers Band and Trixz Migos.

Is Real Reel a solo artist or a group?

The public record does not settle it, and that is an answer quick listings never give. The category he won is itself called Rising and Emerging Artist or Band, and no source consulted for this profile describes his line up. This profile therefore chooses neither solo nor group, and says so openly instead of guessing.

What is Real Reel best documented record?

“Tropikini”, released on 19 June 2025 on No Turkey Music. Its Shazam sheet gives it in English, with Savion on piano, Corel Dominique credited as songwriter and DiYoute as engineer, and the official visualizer page states: produced by Savion, mixed and mastered by Yw3 Studio. It is the only Real Reel record whose date, label and full credits are public.

Is Real Reel from Saint Lucia or from Dominica?

No reliable source consulted confirms his origin. One guide only, the Ti Vilaj Kwéyòl 2026 programme guide, presents him in parentheses as a Dennery Segment king, Dennery being the Saint Lucia town that gave that soca sound its name. Against that, his Dominica Music Award and his booking at the Creole village in Roseau are documented Dominican facts. This profile reports the label as attributed to that one guide and does not turn it into an established origin.

What other Real Reel records are circulating?

Three records are attested by published mix tracklists: “Chappa”, in DJ JEL 2026 Summer Soca and Bouyon Catch Up mix, and “What did it?” and “I Do”, in Blaqrose Supreme 2026 bouyon freestyle mix, which also programmes “Tropikini”. An iTunes chart aggregator also listed “Isle Of Beauty” at the top of its Dominica songs page at the time of its crawl.

Where can I see and hear Real Reel first?

On stage, Real Reel was on the programme of Ti Vilaj Kwéyòl 2026, at the Botanic Gardens in Roseau, in the Super Mix slot on Tuesday 20 October with Taffy and Co, Gwada G, Trixx and Kenny G. For listening, start with “Tropikini”, then follow our bouyon playlist and our bouyon soca page.
