Unstoppable Shax: the voice linking the singles and the big stages

Published October 20, 2026

Unstoppable Shax is a bouyon artist from Dominica whose name, in two years, moved from single credits to the bills of the biggest stages of the genre. His lead name record, “No Handouts (Raw)”, featuring Trilla-G, was released on August 30, 2024. Around him stands the hard core of current bouyon: Shelly and Signal Band, Nice, Reo, Quan, DJ Taffy and DJ MJ. In May 2025 he performed at the first all bouyon festival in St. Maarten; in October 2025, at the Big Bad Bouyon night of Miami Carnival; in October 2026, he is confirmed at Ti Vilaj Kwéyòl and at the closing night of the World Creole Music Festival. This profile follows his records page by page, then his stages date by date, with the credits exactly as the platforms publish them.

One name, one writer: Sharkim Kamron Esprit in the credits

Behind the stage name, the writing credits give a full name. The Shazam page of “No Handouts (Raw)” credits four writers: Sharkim Kamron Esprit, Gael Jno Baptiste, Cecil Joseph and Tafari Maffei. The first of those names is the artist himself: the official audio of “It’s You”, on the Big Tip Riddim, credits the song as written by Sharkim Unstoppable Shax Esprit, with the stage name set inside the writer name. Stage name and writer name therefore point to the same person, and this profile can write it without guessing.

One variant runs through the pages: the writer credit of “Halay”, by DJ Taffy, writes Shakim Esprit, without the r of Sharkim and without the middle name. The platforms of Dominican bouyon often spell the same names several ways from one page to the next, and this profile keeps the fullest form, the one of “No Handouts” and “It’s You”, while flagging the variant instead of silently correcting it. The handle published in the official video credits, for “Without You”, is @unstoppable_shax; no account is carried as a link in the data of this page, for lack of a verified direct opening during this research.

The territory, for its part, is not in question: every bill that names him ranks him among the artists of Dominica. The official media release of the World Creole Music Festival 2026 counts him, under the short spelling Shaxx, among the homegrown acts, alongside Reo, Nice and Gwada G. The Ti Vilaj Kwéyòl 2026 list, the independence season event in Roseau, enters him under his full name. And his collaborations place him at the centre of the current Roseau network: Signal Band and its Signal Band Inc. banner, producers A-Plus Muzik, Fr3EzE and Maskman, studios Th3rd House and In The Water Studio.

The shape of his career is the shape of the new bouyon economy: no album under his own name was found, but a run of singles and features in which his voice serves as the link between teams. He is lead artist on “No Handouts” and “It’s You”, co-headliner on “Without You”, “De Other Man” and “Lapidé Yo”, and guest voice on “Halay” and “WORK DAT”. That connector position, more than that of an isolated soloist, explains the speed of his rise on the bills: each record plugs him into the team of another already established name of the scene.

The first verified records: “Halay” and “No Handouts”

The first verified page of the name is a feature. “Halay”, by DJ Taffy featuring Unstoppable Shax, was released on January 19, 2024 on Riddim Beast Studios, in English, at 160 BPM, and its Shazam song page showed 9,488 identifications when it was opened. The credited writer is Shakim Esprit, the short form of the artist writer name. The record then lived a second life in the mixes: the tracklists of Sewo Jam and of DJ Close Soca Passport file it under the form Unstoppable Shax, Halay, and another under Halay, Unstoppable Shax featuring DJ Taffy, the credit order turning with the selectors, where the release page itself gives DJ Taffy as lead artist.

The record that installs the name as a headliner is “No Handouts (Raw)”, by Unstoppable Shax featuring Trilla-G, released on August 30, 2024 on 7753722 Records DK, in English and at 160 BPM. The four credited writers draw his workshop: Sharkim Kamron Esprit, Gael Jno Baptiste, Cecil Joseph, the name behind Tha Wizzard, a historic maker of the Dominican sound, and Tafari Maffei. The video of the record is billed as Bouyon 2025, and the Trilla-G artist page on Shazam ranks the record among his most identified songs of all time, with about 8,070 identifications counted when opened: for a first lead single, that is a rare measure of attention on this scene.

Those two pages also give the shared sound frame of the file: records in English, a tempo of 160 BPM on both opened Shazam pages as on the “WORK DAT” page, and a distribution through digital singles on banners of the scene, Riddim Beast Studios then a digital distribution label. No album closes that first period: the verified discography of Unstoppable Shax is, from end to end, a discography of isolated records and collaborations, dated one by one by the platforms.

The immediate follow up runs through another team. On February 1, 2025, “WORK DAT”, by DJMJ featuring Unstoppable Shax and Blasian Gyal, was released on DJMJ ANYWAY, in English, at 160 BPM. The page credits the three voices with performing and writing, Fr3EzE and Mv Designs with production, and WizZarDHouSeRecorDs with mastering. The record links Shax to the circle of DJ MJ, one of the central DJ producers of the current wave, and it circulates afterwards in carnival mix tracklists, under the form DJ MJ, Unstoppable Shax, Blasian Gyal, Work Dat.

“Without You”: the collective record of 2025

The widest record of the file is “Without You”, presented by its official video as a Bouyon 2025 record performed by five voices: Unstoppable Shax, Nice, Reo, Trilla-G and Quan, credited Quan Dawg in the video title. The official description gives the full credits: produced by A-Plus Muzik, mixed and mastered by Th3rd House Studios, video by A.Nibbs, and links to the album on Spotify and on Apple Music. It is a team record in the strong sense: five singers of the same generation, a producer of the same wave, and a release built for the platforms as much as for the stage.

The place of Shax in that record deserves a close read. In the video title, his name closes the list of performers, but in the description, the performers line cites him first, with his handle @unstoppable_shax at the head of the five published accounts. The record then circulates everywhere the 2025 wave is told: the tracklist of the Bouyon Mix 2025 Pt 2 by Blaqrose Supreme places it between records by Trilla-G and Litle Boy, and diaspora mixes take it up alongside “Someone Else”, the brother record by Quan, Litle Boy and Trilla-G, to which its video keywords explicitly attach it.

“Without You” works as a collective visiting card of the Signal Band and post Signal Band generation: the same constellation is heard there as on “De Other Man” and “Lapidé Yo” a year later, widened to Reo and Quan. For Shax, it is the record that moves him from guest voice status to that of a core member: the programmers who will read his name on the bills of 2025 and 2026 will, for many of them, have heard him first in this five voice record.

The Signal Band Inc. era: “De Other Man”, “Lapidé Yo” and “It’s You”

The year 2026 attaches the name to the Signal Band banner. “De Other Man”, by Shelly, Trilla-G and Unstoppable Shax, was released as a single on Signal Band Inc., with a publication date of January 7, 2026 on the Shazam album page, which tags it Reggae, as it does for a large part of Dominican bouyon. The record is a trio of voices from the same team as “Without You”, tightened around Shelly, the voice of Signal Band. It enters the reference mixes at once: the Bouyon Music 2026 Mix Vol. 1, mixed by Smokiller for Bouyon Shattaz, places it at 18 minutes 45, between records by Trilla-G, in the middle of the Dominican new releases of the year.

The second record of that run is “Lapidé Yo”, featuring Téhilah, credited to Signal Band, Shelly, Trilla-G and Unstoppable Shax, published as an EP on Signal Band Inc. with a date of April 5, 2026 on the Shazam page. The EP format, for a single song surrounded by its versions, and the presence of four names as headliners confirm the method of the team: collective releases in which the band, its singers and its allied voices sign together. Shax appears there as a co-headliner, at the same typographic level as Signal Band and Trilla-G, which was not the case on his first features of 2024.

The third record of the period brings Shax back as lead name, but in another workshop. The official audio of “It’s You”, on the Big Tip Riddim, credits him as performer, with Maskman as feature, and gives a complete technical sheet: written by Sharkim Unstoppable Shax Esprit, produced by Arade Maskman Moses, live bass by Keith Goddard, vocals recorded at In The Water Studio, backup vocals by Kitanna recorded by Cecil Tha Wizzard Joseph, executive producer Hilary Tilly Thomas, on the Maskman Muzik banner. The presence of a live played bass and of a named riddim attaches this record to the shared riddim tradition, in which several voices ride the same base, and shows Shax at ease outside the Signal Band circuit alone.

Taken together, those three records of 2026 draw a clear position: Shax has become a regular voice of the Signal Band Inc. stable while keeping releases under his own name with other producers. That is exactly the profile festival bills look for in current bouyon: a singer identified with a strong team, but able to carry a stage slot in his own name.

The stages: St. Maarten, Miami, Ti Vilaj and the WCMF closing night

The first documented big stage plays out away from Dominica. In May 2025, the Strictly the Best Festival, Bouyon Edition, organized by Two Brothers Entertainment at Lotterie Farm, in St. Maarten, gathered more than 5,000 people for the first festival entirely devoted to bouyon on that island, according to the Black Island Girl Multimedia report published on May 12, 2025. The bill lines up Pudaz, Litle Boy, Quandan, Freddy, Reo, Nice, Kenny G, Trilla G, Trixx, Unstoppable Shax, Khallion and Edday, with a closing set by Mr Ridge. The name of Shax stands there among the invited Dominican headliners, not in a local slot: it is an export of the sound, and he is part of it from the first edition.

The second stage is American. The Big Bad Bouyon night, at the heart of the Big Bad Festival built by Jay Upscale during Miami Carnival, was held at Toe Jam, in the Wynwood district, on October 10 and 11, 2025. The CaribMagPlus report, published on October 14, 2025, gives a bill led by Ridge, presented as a two time Caribbean Music Awards Bouyon Artist of the Year winner, with 1T1, Edday, Shelly, Reo, Trilla-G, Infrared, DJ Luchshiy and Unstoppable Shax. For an artist whose first lead single dates from August 2024, performing in Miami a year later, on the bouyon night of the biggest carnival of the North American diaspora, measures the speed of the path.

The 2026 season brings him back to Roseau, twice in the same independence week. He first stands among the first twenty confirmed artists of Ti Vilaj Kwéyòl 2026, the Creole village at the Botanic Gardens, from October 19 to 22, 2026. Then the World Creole Music Festival, from October 23 to 25, 2026 at Windsor Park, bills him on its closing night, Sunday October 25, according to the official night by night list verified by Dominica Weekly: Machel Montano, Uncle Waffles, Fridayy, Maxi Priest, Diblo Dibala, Les Aiglons, Jean Marc Ferdinand, Shelly and Signal Band, Gwada G, Unstoppable Shax, Nice and DJ Taffy. Sharing the closing night of his island biggest festival with Machel Montano and Uncle Waffles, two years after a first single, is the heaviest stage fact in the file.

To those bills is added a more modest but telling stage trace: a Blaqrose Supreme podcast listing files, in its tracklist, a live “Kehlani Folded Remix”, credited to Signal Band and Unstoppable Shax at the St Joseph Village Carnival in 2026. That kind of live cover, played at a village fete with the band, is not a release and does not enter the recordings of this page; it shows, by contrast, the ground work of the singer, between the big bills, in the village carnival circuit where bouyon keeps its audience.

The mix traces, and the limits of the file

Like every artist of this wave, Unstoppable Shax also leaves traces that are not releases, and this profile keeps them separate. The tracklist of the Bouyon Mix 2025 Pt 2 credits a “Backshot” to Mr Delly, Likkle Man, Unstoppable Shax and Trump: no platform page for that record was opened during this research, so the record is cited here as a mix trace, and it does not enter the structured data of the page. Likewise, the “Halay” page points to a video titled “ONE POT FREE UP”, by Unstoppable Shax with Riddimbeast, featuring Freddy and Gwada G: the record exists as a video flagged by a platform, with no opened release page, and it is told as what it is.

The limits of the file are clear. No official biography, no interview and no artist page verified by direct opening on Shazam or Spotify were confirmed during this research: the verified pages are the song and single pages, the official videos and the festival reports, and the official links field of this page therefore stays empty, under the rule of this site. No album under his own name is referenced, and the figures quoted, Shazam identifications from the opened pages, are dated readings that will keep moving.

Those limits do not shrink the file, they frame it: seven recordings verified by official pages or videos between January 2024 and April 2026, three major documented stages in 2025, and two official Roseau bookings in October 2026, including the WCMF closing night. Few bouyon artists of his generation line up a trail that readable in so short a time. Listening starts with “No Handouts (Raw)” and “Halay”, continues with “Without You” and “De Other Man”, then with “WORK DAT”, “Lapidé Yo” and “It’s You”, and the context is read on our Signal Band and bouyon soca pages and in our bouyon playlist.
