Xs Groove: a new school bouyon name, a file still to complete

Published October 20, 2026

Xs Groove is a name the bouyon lists have known for a long time and the platform pages barely know at all. An old version of the reference synthesis on bouyon files it among the new school bands, alongside Triple K International, Ncore and Signal Band. In 2026, its record “Only You”, laid over the Bouyon Rave Riddim, circulates in a Mr General mixtape and then in a Toronto soca show, and another record, “Your Life”, shared with Milla, Trilla G and DiYoute, closes the tracklist of a Jamz Podcast soca and bouyon mix. That is about all an honest file can establish today: no official artist page, no platform song page and no verified biography were found during this research. This profile therefore states what is documented, names its sources for what they are, mixtape tracklists, and clearly marks everything that remains unknown, starting with the exact origin of the name.

A name in the lists: the bouyon new school

The oldest and most durable trace of Xs Groove is not a record, it is a list. The synthesis devoted to bouyon, in its version of August 6, 2012, presents the genre as a form of popular music of Dominica, born in the late 1980s in Roseau, and files its bands in two generations. On the old school side: WCK, the group that founded the style in 1988, First Serenade, Patners In Kryme, Raw Reedim, Ruff and Ready, RSB and Triple K. On the new school side: Triple K International, Ncore, presented as the former MFR, Kross Vybez, then Xs Groove, followed by Royalty, Esclav, SOS, RMC, Signal and Extreme.

That place in the list is a precise fact, and it must be read for what it is worth. It says that, by 2012 at the latest, the name Xs Groove was circulating as the name of a band of the bouyon next generation, in the same paragraph as the acts that took over from WCK. It does not say who is in the group, where exactly it comes from, or which records it had released by then: the synthesis gives Xs Groove no biographical line, any more than it gives most names of its generation. The name is therefore old in the lists, and almost without documentary thickness behind it.

The form of the name also matters. Recent tracklists write Xs Groove, in two words, with a lower case s after the X. An aggregator profile, for its part, speaks of an XS Groove Band, in capitals and with the word Band added. This site keeps the spelling of the 2025 and 2026 mixtape tracklists, Xs Groove, because those are the most recent documents and the closest to the real circulation of the name. The capitalised variant is not kept as an official name: nothing proves it comes from the group itself.

“Only You”: a voice on the Bouyon Rave Riddim

The central fact of the recent file fits in one riddim. Mr General, presented as Camouflage Dragon, lines up late in his Im Hungry For Soca mixtape a full block devoted to the Bouyon Rave Riddim, positions 58 to 63: first the riddim instrumental, then Shelly with “Burn Dem”, Blaka Dan with “Forewarned”, Benja with Sledge Hammah on “Till Morning”, Xs Groove with “Only You”, and College Boy Jesse with “Nocturnal Energy”. Five voices over the same rhythm track, Xs Groove in the penultimate position of the block.

A shared riddim is the most concrete form of life of a scene: the same instrumental bed passes from voice to voice, and each artist leaves their version on it. Being on the Bouyon Rave Riddim therefore places Xs Groove in the bouyon circulation of 2025 and 2026, alongside names this site documents elsewhere, such as Shelly, a voice of Signal Band. But precision matters as much as the fact: this presence is established by a mixtape tracklist, not by a release page. No Spotify, Apple Music, Shazam, Deezer, SoundCloud, Audiomack or YouTube page for the record “Only You” was found or opened during this research. The record is therefore told here as an attributed mention, and it does not enter the track list in the structured data of this page.

What followed confirms the circulation, still through mixes. On February 7, 2026, Island Breeze, the weekly soca and Caribbean music show hosted by DJ Bass and DJ Revz on CIUT 89.5 FM in Toronto, closed its playlist with three records in a row: “Forewarned” by Blaka Dan, “Burn Dem” by Shelly, then “Only You” by Xs Groove. Two of the neighbours from the Bouyon Rave Riddim block of the Mr General mixtape therefore turn up again, in the same spirit of ordering, in a Toronto radio selection a few months later. The record travels, from selection to selection, carried by DJs: that is, to date, its best documented form of public life.

“Your Life”: Milla, Trilla G and DiYoute

The second record in the file is “Your Life”, credited to Xs Groove with Milla, Trilla G and DiYoute. It appears in the tracklist of the Jamz Podcast Soca/Bouyon 2025-26 Mix, a long mix that crosses the soca and bouyon season, from Patrice Roberts to Machel Montano, taking in Dominican names such as Shelly, Nice and Pudaz. “Your Life” holds the last published position of the tracklist, just after “Home” by Taffy and Shelly: the closing slot, the one a selector keeps for a record they want to leave ringing.

The three guest names tell the network in which the record circulates. Trilla G is one of the most active Dominican voices of the current generation, documented on this site for his own catalog. DiYoute is a recurring workshop name of the scene, credited with recording and mixing recent bouyon records. Milla is cited under that single name in the tracklist, and this research did not establish a full identity: this profile does not guess it. As with “Only You”, no platform page for “Your Life” was opened: the record is cited as a tracklist mention attributed to the Jamz Podcast, and it does not enter the structured data either.

These two mentions, “Only You” and “Your Life”, still draw a geography. On one side, a shared bouyon riddim, played by a mixtape DJ and then by a Toronto show. On the other, a collaboration with voices and a craftsman of the current Dominican scene, placed at the close of a season mix. Xs Groove does not appear as an isolated name: it appears at the contact points of the scene, where records pass from hand to hand. That is little, but it is coherent, and it is exactly the level of certainty this profile claims.

What the file does not allow us to say

The limits must be stated as clearly as the facts. No primary source opened during this research gives the origin of Xs Groove: no town, no parish, no country of residence, no formation date, no member names, no civil names. An aggregator profile does present an XS Groove Band as a dancehall and reggae ensemble from Dominica, but the rules of this site are constant: an aggregator serves to discover a name, never to prove a fact, and that promotional text, with no cited source, is not kept as proof. The origin of Xs Groove therefore remains, in this file, not directly documented, and the title of this page speaks of Dominica in the sense of the scene to which the lists attach the name, not of an established birthplace.

The catalog is in the same state. Two records are attested by tracklists, “Only You” and “Your Life”, and neither has a verified platform page to date. There is, in this research, no official artist page to link, no social account verified as its own, no interview, no press article devoted to the group. The structured data of this page reflects that state without dressing it up: the track list there is empty, and so is the list of official links. That is not an oversight, it is the file.

That emptiness has a meaning that must be stated without over reading it. Bouyon has always lived first at parties, on radio and in mixtapes, and many of its band names never had an online documentary existence in proportion to their real presence in selections. Xs Groove is, in the current state of the sources, one of those names: present in the lists since 2012, present in the mixes of 2025 and 2026, and absent from the platforms where releases are usually verified. If an official page or a song page appears, this profile will be completed and its data updated.

Exact position, and the place of the name in the history of the genre

The position of Xs Groove can be summed up in three sentences. It is a band name filed, since 2012, among the new school of bouyon, the genre born in Dominica in the late 1980s around WCK. It is a voice of the Bouyon Rave Riddim, with “Only You”, and a shared signature on “Your Life”, with Milla, Trilla G and DiYoute. And it is, for now, a thin file, made of mix mentions, which this site publishes as such rather than inflating it.

The context of the genre helps to place what those mentions mean. Bouyon soca, one of the sung forms that came out of bouyon, was started by Dada in 2003 in Dominica, per the first hand testimony of Sean “Smokiller” Francis, Dominican-born, founder of Bouyon Shattaz. Shared riddims such as the Bouyon Rave Riddim are the direct heirs of that version culture: one rhythm track, several voices, a circulation through DJs before any catalog existence. For a name with no platform page to land on a riddim, then in a Toronto show, is nothing abnormal in that economy: it is even its historical mode of diffusion.

To follow the thread from here, the safest path runs through the documented neighbours: Shelly and Signal Band for the same riddim block, Trilla G for the “Your Life” collaboration, our bouyon riddim page to understand the form, and our bouyon playlist for listening to the current scene. The Xs Groove page will stay short as long as the sources stay short: on this site, a profile says what it knows, and it also says what it does not know.

Frequently asked questions

Who is Xs Groove?

Xs Groove is a band name filed among the new school of bouyon in the reference synthesis on the genre, in its 2012 version, alongside Triple K International, Ncore, Kross Vybez, Royalty, Esclav, SOS, RMC, Signal and Extreme. In 2025 and 2026, the name reappears in mixtape tracklists with two records, “Only You” on the Bouyon Rave Riddim and “Your Life” with Milla, Trilla G and DiYoute. No verified biography of the group was found during this research.

Where does Xs Groove come from?

No primary source opened during this research says it directly. The only durable classification attaches the name to the new school bands of bouyon, the genre born in Dominica, and an aggregator profile presents an XS Groove Band as an ensemble from Dominica, with no cited source. This site does not keep an aggregator as proof: the exact origin of Xs Groove therefore remains undocumented in this file, and this profile says so openly.

What is Xs Groove best known record?

“Only You”, its version on the Bouyon Rave Riddim. The Mr General Im Hungry For Soca mixtape places it inside the riddim block, between Benja and College Boy Jesse, alongside Shelly and Blaka Dan, and the Toronto show Island Breeze played it on February 7, 2026 on CIUT 89.5 FM. The record has no verified platform page to date: it is known through its circulation in mixes and on radio.

What is the Bouyon Rave Riddim?

A shared bouyon riddim, that is one rhythm track carrying several sung versions. In the Mr General mixtape, its block lines up an instrumental, “Burn Dem” by Shelly, “Forewarned” by Blaka Dan, “Till Morning” by Benja with Sledge Hammah, “Only You” by Xs Groove and “Nocturnal Energy” by College Boy Jesse. Our bouyon riddim page explains this form, central to the culture of the genre.

Who has Xs Groove collaborated with?

According to the tracklist of the Jamz Podcast Soca/Bouyon 2025-26 Mix, “Your Life” is credited to Xs Groove with Milla, Trilla G and DiYoute, in the closing position of the mix. Trilla G is a Dominican voice documented on this site, and DiYoute a recurring workshop name of the current bouyon scene. The full identity of Milla was not established by this research, and no platform page for the record was verified.

Where can I hear Xs Groove?

Through the mixes where its records circulate: the Mr General Im Hungry For Soca mixtape for “Only You” on the Bouyon Rave Riddim, the Island Breeze show on CIUT 89.5 FM in Toronto, which played “Only You” on February 7, 2026, and the Jamz Podcast Soca/Bouyon 2025-26 Mix for “Your Life”. No official artist page and no streaming platform song page were found to date, and this profile will be completed if they appear.
