DJ Wizz767: Derrent Durand, the producer who signs with the 767
Published October 20, 2026
DJ Wizz767 is the stage name of Derrent Durand, a producer, promoter and graphic designer from Dominica whose stage name carries the telephone code of his island, 767. His most recent trace is “Diamond Boy (Bouyon Remix)”, an official audio signed with Baps! and billed as a bouyon 2026 record, which he produced and whose artwork he also designed. His most telling trace sits elsewhere: on his own website, the edition titled “Post Sewo Depression 10”, published on October 18, 2024, celebrates ten years of his “Riddim & Vybz” mix series with a 75 record selection in which he programmes the others, Signal Band, TK International, Asa Bantan, Reo, and slips in two records under his own name. This profile follows those traces one by one, quotes his influences exactly as his biography states them, including DJ Flip Tha Boss, and says plainly what the public record does not hold: no birth date, no home town, and no verified artist page on the major platforms.
Who DJ Wizz767 is: one name, one area code, four trades
The full name appears in his own credits. The DJ Wizz767 artist page on Audiomack, opened for this research, opens its biography with a sentence that gives the identity: Derrent “DJ Wizz” Durand. The official audio of “Diamond Boy (Bouyon Remix)” confirms the same identity under another spelling of the stage name, by crediting the graphic design and visualization to Derrent “Dj Wizz767” Durand. The 767 attached to the name is not a series number: it is the telephone code of Dominica, the one the whole scene of the island uses like a flag, and the Apple Podcasts link published in his own description runs through the Dominican storefront of that platform.
The same biography presents him, in its own words, as the youngest upcoming producer, promoter, graphic designer and business owner to come out of Dominica. This profile repeats that presentation for what it is: a self description, not a ranking verified by a third party. No independent source consulted ranks DJ Wizz767 among his peers, gives his age, or says in which part of the island he works. What is verifiable is the four trades themselves, because his releases show them at work: production on “Diamond Boy”, the credited artwork on that same record, promotion in his mix series that programmes the whole scene, and a professional booking contact published under his videos.
His Audiomack page showed, at the time of opening, 600,000 total plays on the account and 390 followers. Those two figures tell the real scale of the man: a platform audience built record by record and mix by mix, far from the millions of views of the headliners, but considerable for a producer of the small Dominican scene who distributes his own work. The biography adds that he has been determined since the age of 14, a sentence cut short on the page, which this profile quotes as part of his personal story and not as a dated fact, since no birth date is published anywhere.
His official site, djwizz767.com, carries the same biography and serves as the showcase for his mix series. It is there, and not on a classic streaming platform, that his recent activity reads best. No artist page under his name could be opened and verified on Shazam, Spotify, Apple Music or Deezer during this research: the streaming links printed in his video description are truncated by YouTube, and this profile does not rebuild an address it has not seen in full. The structured links of this page therefore keep only the two addresses that were opened and verified: his Audiomack page and his website.
The stated influences: from reggae roots to bouyon, with DJ Flip Tha Boss
The DJ Wizz767 biography names his influences in an order that tells a listening path. First the voices of reggae and lovers rock: Bob Marley, Beres Hammond, Luciano and Tarrus Riley. Then the king of soca, Machel Montano. Then, and these are the names that matter for this site, the artists of the Lesser Antilles: WCK, the founding group of bouyon, Triple Kay, DJ Puffy and DJ Flip Tha Boss. The sentence says he combines their styles to produce his records, and it gives as an example his “Uber Everywhere Bouyon Remix” featuring Motto, presented as one of his major hits.
That list works as a document of transmission. Triple Kay, the group from Laudat that became TK International, is the name that popularized bouyon soca, the bouyon crossed with soca that Dada had started in Dominica in 2003 according to the first hand testimony of Sean “Smokiller” Francis, and whose story our bouyon soca page retraces. When a young Dominican producer names WCK and Triple Kay in the same sentence as Marley and Machel, he places himself in the lineage of the island, not in the lineage of imported fashions.
The most loaded name in the list is the last one: DJ Flip Tha Boss. DJ Wizz767 names him among the Lesser Antillean artists who influenced him, and this site gives DJ Flip Tha Boss his own profile in the same publication wave, precisely because the two files answer each other. In 2020 the two names already followed each other in the tracklist of the same reference mix, as the section on “Without Me” shows below. Ten years of mixes later, the younger man names the elder as an influence in his official biography: that is the clearest form of recognition a DJ can receive on this scene, where there is no academy and no pantheon, only the tracklists and the biographies of the others.
The list must also be read for what it does not hold. No Guadeloupe producer, no name from the French bouyon scene, and no contemporary Jamaican dancehall artist appears in it. The stated horizon of DJ Wizz767 is Dominica and its immediate Lesser Antillean neighbourhood, widened to classic reggae and to Trinidad soca through Machel Montano. His bouyon is therefore, by declaration, a locally anchored bouyon, made by a listener raised at the school of the island live bands before it is a studio bouyon.
The verified catalog: four records, four different sources
The most recent and best documented record is “Diamond Boy (Bouyon Remix)”, signed by Dj Wizz767 and Baps! and presented in its official audio as a “Bouyon 2026” record. The video description credits production to both names, the graphic design and visualization to Derrent Durand himself, and points to Audiomack and SoundCloud for listening. This profile says nothing about the original that this remix reworks: no source consulted names the artist of the original “Diamond Boy”, and a DJ remix, in the bouyon economy, is first a tool for the dancefloor, made to place a known voice or a tune of the moment over the rhythm of the island. Baps!, the co producer, is a producer who appears in the mix tracklists of the same period, reachable through BeatStars according to the same description.
The second verified record comes from the Audiomack biography itself: “Uber Everywhere Bouyon Remix”, featuring Motto, which his own presentation names as one of his major hits. No separate song page was opened for this remix, no date, no label and no figures of its own, and this profile therefore files it exactly at the level of its source: a record claimed by the artist on his official platform page, with no public metadata consulted. That is the lot of the bouyon remixes of this generation, which live on Audiomack, SoundCloud and inside mixes, and often leave fewer written traces than the singers singles.
The other two verified records sit in the tracklist of his own anniversary mix, published on his website. At position number 6 of “Post Sewo Depression 10” stands “Dj Wizz767 x Fr3EzE, Angel Numbers”, a collaboration with Fr3EzE, the producer of the current wave and a maker of the Signal Band and Trixzmigos sound. And the selection closes, at position number 75, with “Dj Wizz767, Wet & Creamy”, a solo name record that serves as a closing signature for the mix. A DJ who programmes himself twice in his own 75 record selection, once early in the run with a recognised producer and once in the very last position, does exactly what the selectors of this scene have always done: he places himself in the line, without placing himself above it.
Taken together, those four records draw a short but coherent catalog: two bouyon remixes, one of them with a named guest, and two mix records, one of them a collaboration. No album and no dated, distributor labelled single appears in the opened sources. The DJ Wizz767 catalog is a DJ producer catalog, not a singer catalog: his raw material is the voices of others and the riddims, and his natural format is the mix, to which the next section is devoted.
Post Sewo Depression: ten years of Riddim & Vybz in 75 records
On October 18, 2024, the DJ Wizz767 website published “Post Sewo Depression 10 (10 Years Of Riddim & Vybz)”, the tenth edition of his mix series, presented as the celebration of ten years of “Riddim & Vybz”. If that title is taken at its word, the series began around 2014, which matches, without proving, the “determined since the age of 14” of his biography. This profile reports the frame exactly as the artist gives it: ten editions, ten years, and an anniversary selection of 75 records, the longest written trace of his work as a selector.
The selection itself is a portrait of the Dominican scene of the moment. Signal Band returns throughout, from “I’ll Be There For You” at the opening to “My Cake” and “Something Nice”. TK International lines up a long run, from “Set For De Road” to “Whistle While You Work”. Asa Bantan sings “Who I Am”, “Stick Break” and “2 Woman For Real”. Reo appears with “Lovers Business”, “Bikini” and “IKY”, with Kenny G and Faithii. Trilla G, DJ Taffy, Slyme Hoyss, Unstoppable Shax, Faithii, Quan and Little Boy complete a panorama in which almost no active name of the island is missing. An anniversary mix, in bouyon, is an archive document as much as a party tool: it says who counted, that year, in the ears of the man who compiles it.
Two details of that tracklist deserve to be picked out. Record number 35 is “Phuck U 2Nite” by Slyme Hoyss, produced by Fr3EzE, the same Fr3EzE who co signs “Angel Numbers” with DJ Wizz767 at position number 6: the compiler programmes the producer he works with, and programmes himself with him. And record number 57 carries a programme for a name: “De Bouyon Running De World”, bouyon runs the world, by TK International with Asa Bantan. The DJ Wizz767 selection is therefore also a statement: the centre of the genre, for him, stays Roseau and its groups, even when bouyon plays in Paris and Montreal.
That selector work is the hidden half of the Dominican DJ producer trade. The singers hold the singles, the groups hold the carnival stages and the World Creole Music Festival, but it is the DJs who keep the running memory of the genre, mix after mix, season after season. A series that lasts ten editions and ten years, held by one name, on his own website, is an institution at the scale of this scene. Our bouyon playlist follows the same wave week after week, and our bouyon riddim page explains the material those mixes assemble.
Without Me: the 2020 trace, between the two spellings of Wrecketeng
The oldest trace found during this research dates from 2020. The mix titled “D’ Riddim Box”, subtitled “Best of 2020 Bouyon x Reketeng Mix”, published by Original DJ-Sly, lines up 73 records presented as a collection of the bouyon and Wrecketeng music of 2020, most of it coming from Dominica and neighbouring islands. At position number 16 stands: “Nikki Dee X Dj Wizz767, Without Me (Bouyon Cover)”. That is, to date, the first public credit found for DJ Wizz767, a bouyon cover sung by Nikki Dee, four years before his anniversary mix.
The title of that mix calls for a spelling precision that this site applies everywhere. The uploader writes “Reketeng”, the most widespread spelling on the internet for this sampling style born out of bouyon muffin. The official spelling kept by this site is “Wrecketeng”, handed down by DJ Cut himself, the pioneer of the style, and our Wrecketeng page explains that choice. When this profile quotes the title of the DJ-Sly mix, it therefore quotes a document that carries the faulty spelling, and it flags it, as it does for every document of the scene: in tracklists, the spelling belongs to the one who publishes, and the correction belongs to the informed reader.
The place of “Without Me” in that tracklist holds a second document, almost hidden. Just before the Nikki Dee and DJ Wizz767 cover, at position number 15, the same mix programmes “DJ Flip Tha Boss, Bouyon Without Me”. Two Dominican DJs, two bouyon treatments of the same “Without Me” title, back to back in the selection of a third DJ, in 2020: on equal sources, nobody can say whether the DJ Wizz767 cover answers the DJ Flip Tha Boss one, precedes it or ignores it, and this profile does not decide it. But the juxtaposition, cross checked with the DJ Wizz767 biography naming DJ Flip Tha Boss among his influences, draws the most likely relation on this scene: the one of listening, then emulation.
The rest of the 2020 tracklist places DJ Wizz767 in his period: Trilla G opening with “The Prayer”, Triple Kay Band live, Keks Mafia, Signal Band with Shelly, Asa Bantan, Edday and Reo. That is the generation of lockdown bouyon and what followed, the generation of downloaded mixes and fast covers, and DJ Wizz767 already appears in it, in small print, among the names that still fill his own selections four years later. The continuity is the fact: from compiled in 2020 to compiler in 2024, the path is that of a DJ who was first programmed by the others before programming the others.
What the record does not say: the limits, stated
This profile ends with its limits, because the public file on DJ Wizz767 is thin and that must be said clearly. No press biography, no interview and no Caribbean media article devoted to the artist was found during this research. No verifiable artist page on the major streaming platforms could be opened: his Spotify and Apple Music links exist in his descriptions, but truncated, and this site does not publish a link it has not opened in full. No social profile is therefore linked in the data of this page; only his Audiomack page and his official website, opened and verified, appear there.
The solid facts fit in a short list, and that list is what gives the profile its value. One name, Derrent Durand, given by two of his own credits. One island, Dominica, given by his biography and by the code in his stage name. Four stated trades, two of which, producer and graphic designer, are visible on his most recent record. One list of named influences, from Bob Marley to DJ Flip Tha Boss. Four records found on opened sources, and a mix series of ten editions whose latest, dated October 18, 2024, programmes 75 records of the current scene. Everything else, age, training, workplace, income, stage life, is absent from the sources, and this profile prefers a short and exact page to a long and invented one.
The place of DJ Wizz767 in the history of the genre is at that scale: not a founder, not a star, but a documented cog in the machine that keeps bouyon alive day to day, the DJ producer designer who remixes, programmes, draws his own visuals and holds his series for ten years. Histories of bouyon gladly tell the founding groups and the successful singers; they forget that the genre also holds through names like these, the names of tracklists and mix credits. If DJ Wizz767 one day publishes a full biography, dated singles or an open artist page, this profile will be completed and dated like every page on this site.
In the meantime, listening starts with “Diamond Boy (Bouyon Remix)” with Baps!, continues with his anniversary selection “Post Sewo Depression 10” on his website, with “Angel Numbers” with Fr3EzE and “Wet & Creamy” in that same selection, and with the “Without Me” cover with Nikki Dee inside the 2020 mix by Original DJ-Sly. The context is read on our bouyon riddim and Wrecketeng pages, and the next generation of the scene is followed in our bouyon playlist.
